Description:

QUALITY MANAGER contract to perm opportunity at a highly regarded manufacturing firm north of Charlotte, NC. BS technical degree and minimum 5 years manufacturing quality experience. Local candidates.

Responsibilities for the Quality Manager

  • Lead, coordinate, and perform activities associated with the quality, regulatory, safety, social compliance for manufacturing and supply base
  • Manage and monitor the activities of manufacturing and supplier operations, and support
  • Manage the cost of quality budgets and directed cost reduction efforts and ensure maximum efficiency and productivity within quality assurance/control while at the same time maintaining adherence to employee safety standards and product safety standards
  • Lead the continuous improvement efforts of the Manufacturing Quality Management System audit process
  • Lead the supplier and manufacturing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and coordination of prototype, pre-launch, and launch part qualification runs (CQV-Runs)
  • Review, approve and develop r Quality Control Plans, process flow diagrams, Process Failure Modes Effects and Analysis (PFMEA), Gage R&R’s
  • Maintain quality metrics and Lead Lean, Six Sigma and OPEX initiatives
  • Work with suppliers/manufacturing facilities on resolving defective material issues, root cause analysis, and corrective actions using 8D methodology

Requirements for the Quality Manager

  • BS Degree in engineering, technical engineering or science discipline
  • 5+ years of operations/manufacturing with experienced in various types of manufacturing. A PLUS to have specific knowledge in the plastics, metals, wood, or electric commodities
  • 5+ years management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years supplier quality experience with thorough knowledge of quality methods and systems is required (statistics, reliability, sampling and auditing)
  • A PLUS to have ISO/QS/TS quality system working knowledge and auditing experience
  • A PLUS to have ASQ certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Quality Engineer (CQE) or Quality Manager (CQM)
  • A PLUS to have any of (a) Consumer Products Industry Experience, (b) Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, OR (c) Manufacturing experience in countries outside of the U.S.
